The recently formed LinkedIn group for Trailing Spouse professionals has generated some interesting connections. Most recently, Bertrand Fouquoire, a fellow male trailing spouse located in France. I recently interviewed Bertrand and learned that he has been an expat in Saudi Arabia and Belgium, and a trailing spouse in the US, and currently on his way for another expat experience, once again as a trailing spouse to Singapore. Just to keep our job search process on track, we started with the importance of NETWORKING. And for those of us in countries other than our home location, this can be pretty scary – finding where people congregate and getting involved with them to create your support group is more difficult with cultural differences, language limitations, and the normal ‘unknowns’.
