What’s happening on the expat forums and social networks?
This week Sean takes a look at various Forums and Blogs suited to Expat Professionals, no music this week from the usual Jamendo.com selections …it was a busy week! You can listen to this weeks podcast here:
First up Sean went back to the Expat-Blog.com site mentioned last week and made mention of the interview that Megan Fitzgerald of Career by Choice conducted with Julien Faliu, founder of www.expat-blog.com. You can read about that interview by clicking here.
Sean described OffshoreInvestment.com and their survey of business registration requirements in various parts of the world. There is no implication of “shady dealings” but solid information setting up a legitamate business in various parts of the world.
Clements, the International Insurance company was also discussed refering to their Global Insight – Information, articles and news concerning international insurance and expatriate life. This blog although originating from an International Insurance perspective they provide valuable information for Expats. I made mention of relocation companies maintaining blogs for expats but in fact the blog that was coming to mind was jugglezine.com Not a relocation company and not an expat blog per se’ but does have a lot of useful information for Expat Professionals.
Jeff raised the point that the ‘typical’ discussion forums seem to be losing ground to blogs. Discussion forums seem to be focused on local and narrow issues. Blogs tend to give the views of writer…obviously! …but are also becoming a forum for discussion through the comment areas.
Sean is getting ready to embark on an expat move just as I have done recently, the plan is to capture some of his experiences along the way.
AllTop.com was the next site on the list, specifically their Expat’s specific pages. http://Expats.AllTop.com
Do we suffer from “Information Overload” or “Filter Failure”?
This was a short show due to other commitments…next week, more on Blogs and Forums for expats.
